High Blood Pressure, Cholesterol Linked to Noisy Jobs

Employers and Employees alike are well aware that noisy work environments can have a negative affect on the hearing health of employees and the overall safety of a workplace. You may be surprised to learn then that a noisy work environment can also cause high blood pressure and high cholesterol. This is according to a recent study published by the CDC that found both conditions to be more common among workers that were exposed to loud noises at work.

2018 NIOSH Coal Workers Health Surveillance Program

The 2018 Coal Workers’ Health Surveillance Program will provide a series of free screenings using NIOSH’s mobile testing unit. A total of 12 weeks of screening are planned for this year, featuring locations that are conveniently located in mining communities and mine locations throughout Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland.

OSHA's New Silica Standards for 2017 & 2018

Over the past year OSHA has begun to implement two brand new respirable crystalline silica standards. Enforcement for construction began on September 23rd, 2017 and enforcement for general industry and maritime will begin on June 23rd, 2018.
